Athens by Day:

No trip to Greece is complete without seeing the Acropolis with the Parthenon, the ancient Agora, shopping at the Plaka, National Museum which is one of the best in the world for antiquities, Hadrian’s Arch, the Evzones, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Olympic Stadium built in antiquity and still in use today. You can see them all.
Cape Sounion and Athens by Night: The morning is for relaxation and enjoying Villa Nefeli or visiting the local shops and stores. Around 3 pm, take a drive to Cape Sounion and visit its famous Temple of Poseidon. From there, take a short trip into Athens for an unforgettable experience the Plaka at night in the middle of the historical district.

Delphi: Explore

Delphi and tune your psyche with the oracles of old. Leave the Villa Nefeli before 9 am and drive directly to Delphi arriving around 11:30 am. Delphi is a BIG place and its museum is incredible. You will need a few hours at Delphi to explore the site and its excellent museum. You can either have your mid-day meal at Delphi, or drive down to the small shore village f Itea. On your return trip, stop and explore the quaint mountain village of Arachova or head through the mountains to Thermopylae where the 300 Spartans made famous their last stand against the massive Persian army of old. For your evening meal stop delightful restaurant on the shores of Lake Marathon before returning Villa Nefeli.

Classical Peloponnesus in One Day:

See the highlights of all the major sites of antiquity in the eastern Peloponnesus; tour Ancient Corinth, Mycenae and Epidavros in one day. Leave Villa Nefeli around 8:30 am and head south. Along the coast you will pass the straits of Salamina where the Athenian fleet defeated the Persians after the Battle at Thermopylae. Near Corinth, stop so you can all stretch your legs at a coffee shop and view the famous Isthmus Canal. Next is Ancient Corinth followed by Nemea and its famous Wine Country Road where you can sample some of Greece’s effort to free Helen from the kidnappers of Troy. After Mycenae, drive east to Epidavros and its world famous theater. Yes, you will find it is true, you truly can hear a pin dropped at its center from the top most seats. On your return trip, stop at the scenic city of Nafplio with its medieval castles of old; returning to Villa Nefeli around 9 pm or so.

Classical Peloponnesus in Two Day:

A two day Classical Peloponnesus Excursion is perfect if you want plenty of time to explore the classical sites of antiquity in the eastern Peloponnesus as well as the picturesque sea shore cities of Nafplio, Corinth and Loutraki.

Day One: Argos and the story of Troy

This excursion is designed to give you plenty of time to explore Mycenae and Nafplio. Leave Villa Nefeli around 8:30 am and head south. Along the coast you’ll pass by the straits of Salamina where the Athenian fleet defeated the Persians after the Battle at Thermopylae. Near Corinth, stop so you can all stretch your legs at a coffee shop and view the famous Isthmus Canal. Next is Nemea and its famous Wine Country Road where you can sample some of Greece’s finest fruits of the vine. A short drive away is Mycenae and the epic story of the Greece’s effort to free Helen from the kidnappers of Troy. After Mycenae, drive further south pass the Mycenaean fortress of Tiryns built by the Cyclops and then to the scenic city of Nafplio with its medieval castles of old. On our return pass through Argos thought to be the oldest continuously populated city in all of Europe. On your return trip stop and have a stretch and refreshments at the sea-side village of St Theodore with its scenic beach; returning to Villa Nefeli around 9 pm or so. 

Day Two: Corinth and Epidavros

Again, leave Villa Nefeli around 8:30 am and head south. At Corinth, take a short trip following the footsteps of Saint Paul stopping first at St. Paul Greek Orthodox church then on to Ancient Corinth. From there take a short drive to AcroCorinth and its commanding view of the Gulf of Corinth. Then head east to Epidavros and its world famous ancient theater still in use today. Yes, you truly can hear a pin dropped at its center from the furthest row. Heading back stop at Loutraki for a stroll on its boardwalk or throwing the dice at its casino before returning to Villa Nefeli  9 pm.

Visit Greek Island:

The Greek Islands of Evia and Egina are easily visited. Take a mini cruise. Leave Villa Nefeli and drive about 10 miles to the port of Saint Marina. Park your car and walk aboard the ferry for a pleasurable 45 minute voyage of Nea Stira on Evia Island. There you can explore its streets and have a nice meal or refreshments in one of its local restaurants. On the voyage to the island you will pass several other picturesque islands. Egina is also easy to visit. Go to Athens and take the subway to Piraeus. There board a fast ferry (sea jet or flying dauphin), they depart hourly, for an hour’s voyage to the Island of Egina. Visit its quant seaside villages or its magnificent temples of old. We can also arrange a day trip to the island of Hydra where no trucks, cars, or motorcycles are allowed. Other than Evia Island, day trips to islands require an early start, late return, and considerable time spend in transit aboard a ferry.
Marathon Battlefield and Museum: Perfect for a small trip during one of your fun days at Villa Nefeli. Spend a couple of hours and take a tour of the Marathon Area including the Battle of Marathon Victory Market, the Athenian Tomb and the Marathon Museum. The Marathon Museum is small but excellent with local artifacts including some from the local Egyptian Baths. Ancient Rhamnous is only 15 miles away.

Shopping at Kifissia:

Perfect for one of your fun days at Villa Nefeli. See suburbia Athens and parts of Athens never seen by most tourists. Go to Kifissia where you are free to explore on your own and shop at its many stores as long as you please.
